Throughout the course of the week, we will intersperse working on El Cuento de Isabel with the content of Unidad 2 etapa 3. By Thursday, we'll get into groups and start planning the filming of the Isabel story, just as we did with Guillermo. Filming will likely happen on Monday, December 17. Bring props to make the video more interesting!

We are now getting started on Unidad 2 etapa3. This chapter focuses on leisure activities, so you are going to learn lots of new verbs/vocabulary. We will be talking about what teenagers do in their free time. We will also be learning a new story: El Cuento de Isabel
On Tuesday, Dec. 3, grade 8 students from Lansdowne will be coming to check out the electives that Vic High offers. We will have about five students visiting our Spanish class. Let's make them feel welcome!

This week we will continue our work on Unidad 2 etapa 2.
On Tuesday, November 19, you will have a quiz on la hora. This will have two parts. Part 1: students will be asked to communicate a given time in Spanish as directed by the teacher. Part 2: Teacher will say a time and student must write it down. We will practice this on Monday.
You will be assigned an oral presentation on tener que + infinitivo and la hora. This will be presented in groups on Thursday, November 21.

We are currently working on Unidad 1 etapa 3. There's a lot of vocabulary in this unit: numbers 0 - 100, the irregular verb tener, vocab related to la familia,ages and birthdays (months of the year). We will also learn the possessive adjectives.

Unidad 1 etapa 3 el 15-18 de octubre
Homework over the long weekend: Finish the booklet (pages 2 - 6) that we started in class and study for Tuesday's test.
The vocabulary test on Unidad 1 etapa 2 (see previous post) has been postponed until Tuesday, October 15.
After the test, we will start working on Unidad 1 etapa 3. We will be covering numbers from 0 – 100, months of the year, birth dates, ages, and vocab related to the family. We’ll also cover possessive adjectives (my brother, your sister, etc.) A vocabulary list will be given to students. Students must learn all vocabulary from the vocabulary sheet.

el alfabeto: The teacher will spell words or say a string of letters and you write down the letters
- los números 0-10: Be able to spell the numbers.
Be able to write the numbers your teacher says. - los días de la semana: Be able to write the days of the week.
Ex. Si hoy es jueves, mañana es____________ - saludos y despedidas: Know how to greet people, ask them their names, ask where they’re from, etc. Know all vocabulary that we've covered so far!
- Be able to answer the following questions:
¿Cómo te llamas?
¿De dónde eres?
¿Cuál es tu teléfono?
¿Qué día es hoy?¿Qué día es mañana?

By Friday, Sept. 13 you need to recite for me a) days of the week b) numbers 0-10
By next Tuesday or Wednesday, Sept. 17 or 18, you will be ready for the Etapa Preliminar Test. I will give you an outline and a review for this test.
Dictado:
Your teacher will read the following phrases in Spanish. You must write them down in Spanish, and then translate them into English. Watch your spelling. There are a few accents to watch out for, too!

You will be expected to check this blog on a regular basis, and you will find homework notices (la tarea) and other important information here. Remember to hand in your internet permission sheet signed by a parent/guardian ASAP so we can go to the computer lab and get to work!

-pen (blue or black) & pencil PLUS a coloured pen/pencil for correction

First quiz (prueba) -- el alfabeto--probably next Monday, Sept.9
This quiz has two parts: a) You will have to read a line of letters from the “eye chart”
b) I will spell some words and you have to write them
